LCBP Phase 2 solar PV funds run dry

LCBP Phase 2 scheme managers, BRE, confirmed today that the funding available for solar PV installations for the public and not-for-profit sectors has run out.  In a message that was published on the Low Carbon Buildings Programme (LCBP) Phase 2 website BRE confirmed that due to a significant increase in applications, the full solar PV allocation of £24.5m has been committed.

In December last year an extra £7m was allocated to the PV stream of the LCBP Phase 2 which it was hoped would tide it over until the programme closed at the end of June 2009.  In the event, this additional funding had all been allocated by 26 February 2009.  BRE have advised that any applications for solar PV made after this date will be kept on hold in case the situation changes.  One possible outcome is that a proportion of those funds currently allocated to biomass and wind turbines – which have not seen a great take-up in applications – could be re-allocated to solar PV.  Any additional funding that is made available would then be awarded on a first come first serve basis.

Please note this only applies to solar PV and funding is still available for solar water heating as well as the other technologies covered in the scheme.
