News Posted: 29 February 2008 Solar Takes the Lead in UK Microgeneration The Government has confirmed that solar energy technologies continue to take "the lion's share" of the microgeneration market. The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) - who run the Low Carbon Buildings Programme (LCBP) grant funding schemes - said that three quarters of all government grants were directed to solar PV and solar water heating technologies. Solar Microgeneration Limited (SML) have been appointed by the Government as a 'Framework Supplier' under Phase 2 of the LCBP scheme which provides grant funding for the installation of microgeneration technologies by organizations in the UK public and not-for-profit sectors. SML are subsequently able to offer grants of up to 50% of the total purchase and installation costs for solar energy technologies. << back to news content
