The LCBP Phase 2 scheme provides £50 million of capital grant funding for the installation of various microgeneration technologies – including solar water heating and photovoltaics (PV) – by organisations in the UK public and not-for-profit sectors, including Housing Associations and RSLs. Under the rules of the programme, the supply and installation of the eligible technologies can only be carried out by the seven ‘Framework Suppliers’ (including SML) who have been appointed by the Government. Under the programme, grants of up to 50% of the total purchase and installation costs are available.
Since the launch of the LCBP Phase 2 scheme in December 2006, we have established ourselves as one of the leading providers of solar water heating and PV for social housing projects in the UK for both new-build and existing housing schemes. We have tailored our services to meet the needs of Housing Associations and RSLs, with additional maintenance and aftercare support packages as well as advice on meeting regulatory carbon reduction targets such as the Code for Sustainable Homes.
We are now urging all our social housing clients to identify current and future new-build and renovation schemes where solar energy technologies are to be incorporated. By engaging with us early in the planning process, we can assess the suitability of the technologies and assist with grant applications to safeguard the 50% grant funding before the June 2009 deadline.
